Feeling

I starred at her as she was withdrawing money from the local 711 ATM machine..Yheaaaa, ok for a brief moment, yes, I looked like a creeper, buuut I knew she was familiar to me.

 

“YES!! Hey! You look amazing!” I said once I remembered. At that moment, a “who the hell are you? Would have been fitting, instead she politely said, Hi and thank you. I reminded her of how I knew her from the gym and hadn’t seen her in over a year. Since then she told me she lost 40lbs. I congratulated her, specifically remembering the conversation we had after class about her challenge to lose weight, and one of those challenges being influenced by the people she had in her inner friend circle, who she has since lost touch with.Over enthusiastic Me: How do you feel?!Monotone Her: “I feel the same.”Curious and encouraging Me: “Do you have more energy?”Mono-toned and un-enthused Her: Yes, and I know I’m also a lot stronger too.Reflecting Me: That’s a great achievement.”Gloomy Her: Yheaaa.. but I feel the same.

 

I could obviously tell that no amount of weight loss was going to make her “feel” and get to the place she wanted unless she changed something else..

 

So when do we get to feel the way we want? Whether it’s more confident, sexy, strong,alive, energetic, vibrant, flexible? What is it that YOU want to feel? Stop and think…

 

No really.. Stop for a second... did you really think about it?! Hmm? Ok…

 

When you work so hard to achieve a result, do, and then observe that you still don’t feel the way you want.. how do you go about doing the inner work to reach beyond your most desirable feeling?

 

Isn’t it all a feeling anyway that we are trying to achieve? Could you fall in love with your workout? YES! Because now there are so SO many options! Think outside of the gym, hell, think outside!? What makes you smile and if you’re like me, what new thing can I try to just get my body and mind moving and just feeling GOOD? Working out is no longer an appropriate term and already has a negative association, just like “work” in the business sense, with both, don’t you want to do what you love and reap the benefits?

 

Depending on the class or my own exercise, when I “work out” I feel empowered!

 

And when you work out you feel….. (fill in the blank).
